About The Event
Hesed (pronounced ‘kheh-sed’) is a Hebrew word that recurs in the Book of Ruth in the Bible. There is no direct equivalent in English but it encapsulates faithfulness, loyalty, unfailing love, generosity and kindness.
This movement workshop follows the tender and personal story of two women depicted in the Book of Ruth. In the midst of tragedy, we see strength, courage, loyalty and faith. As they meet and experience hesed, the lives of these seemingly inconsequential women are redeemed and woven into the fabric of the greatest redemption story ever told.
We will explore and reflect on the themes that arise in the text using different artforms, music and movement. We use the text in our warm up, taught movement, and guided improvisation.
